Rotarians Visit JLSS on 26 February 2012

Mr. Tony Asfour, Mr. Edward Rassi, and Mr. George Beiruti from Beirut Cosmopolitan Rotary Club accompanied Dr. Christof Ackermann, President of Hamburg-Blankenese Rotary Club and his friend from Germany Dr. Gerhard Knell on a visit to Schneller School on Saturday 26 February 2012. The group arrived at 11.30 am. They were received by the director who had a meeting with them and then showed them around the school. During the meeting Dr. Christof Ackermann handed the official papers of the JLSS Electricity Equipment Project to Mr. George Beiruti, thus launching the project with the Rotary Foundation. The project is jointly funded by Beirut Cosmopolitan Rotary Club and Hamburg-Blankenese Rotary Club. It will equip the JLSS Electricity Workshop with modern advanced electrical equipment from Germany that will enable our school to start Dual System training in Industrial Electricity next academic year. The cost of the project totals US$ 60,000. This project is yet another step forward for our Vocational Department that we are able to achieve through grants from the Rotary Foundation which is enabling us to bring our vocational training to the 21st century. Our Rotarian guests had lunch at JLSS after which they travelled back to Beirut. We express our most sincere gratitude to our Rotarian partners and friends from both clubs for their kind visit and wonderful support of our school.
